Here's something to throw into the pot then:

At the shop I worked at, we had an older Ford Granada with a 6cyl. That was
torn out and replaced with a 351 Cleveland, Comp Cams valvetrain, Edelbrock
Intake, Holley Carb, and a set of custom built headers. (Along with the
stock C4 trans revamped and a 3.73 LSD installed). The weight gain was
about 100lbs more but the 1/4 mile times (obviously) went up drastically.
Yup, a Ferd Granada (4-Door) running 13's was a lot of fun at the local
cruising strip. They laughed...until they were smoked by a Granada.

Now take that Granada and put a Paxton on it, and a god handling package
(yes, they actually made them for the Granada's) and you could easily put it
into the 12's. Case in point: We could have modified the 6 popper with
parts from Clifford Performance...but for the HP gains, we opted for the V8
instead. The speed lost from the added weight was far outweighed by the HP
from the engine.
