It's easiest to explain if you're looking at the intake w/ the belly pan
removed... The plenum divider extends down to within just a few inches of
the belly pan when it's installed... Another big restriction on pre-'96
trucks is the EGR inlet which is part of the divider and is even more of a
restriction on the rear 4 runners... Cutting out 2" of the divider allows
more air to flow between the belly pan and the edges of the runners, as well
as removing the EGR inlet. now, of course tampering with the EGR part is
illegal which means you're no longer legal..... blahblahblah.... =)
