I know this is late in forthcoming, but I've been behind on this lately...

My truck was doig the same thing (same truck also...) and this is what I
found.

While doing ~50, I would floor it, and the RPM's, speed, and the engine
sound would barely increase. After 2 weeks of this, it finally got to the
point where coming from a start, I would stay in 1st gear. Man that whined
the first time... I would have to park, shift through the gears and then be
drivable...

Finally, a Check Engine Light came on. Took it into the shop and this is
what they found:

CONNECTED DRB--FOUND CODE FOR GOV PRESSURES TOO LOW. PERFORMED TSB
#18-07-99--REMOVED AND REPLACED VALVE BODY.

They told me the Valve Body was permanently stuck in the 1/3 open position.
This was covered under my warranty, and I also got a free Transmission Fluid
change with this...
