But, as with everything else, there's a downside. I used to carry 150
pounds of sand in my bed, but dumped it in April. Mileage seemed to go
up a tad, but maybe it was also warmer weather? My mileage dropped in
September when I bought the sand.

I do agree, though, that putting some dead weight back there helped the
handling.
