Yup. I just went through this with my motorcycle... Static charge was good
(12v) and lights would come up fine, but when I put a load on it via the
starter it would drop to like 3-4 volts... Za battery vas kaput! Definitely
gotta test the battery under load to rule it out as the problem.

my battery was a full year newer than yours when it died. and it was/is an
850 ca. i didn't think it was possible either. dash lights were dim and
things were trying to work but not quite capable. then everything lit up
perfect stereo on and everything. get the meter out and i got 12 volts on
the battery. i set the meter to record and tried to start it and i was
getting 3.5 volts. i then got to watch the battery come back up to 12 volts
again in about thirty seconds. don't dismiss the battery to easy. a slight
short cell to cell only will show when you try to load it. get someone else
to watch the meter(assuming yours doesn't record) and see how bad the volts
fall during start.
