5 Speed Jumping Out of 1st Gear

A week or two ago I posted a question asking about the notchiness of the 5
speed in our 2K Dakota QC, 4.7L, 5-speed, 3.55 LSD, etc. Well, we are
learning to live with the notchiness, but the freakin' thing has jumped out
of first gear three times on us - twice with my wife driving and once with
me driving. I've owned a manual transmission car (3 VW's) for the last 11
years and this has never happened to me before. The truck only has about
560 miles on it! I'm taking it in on Friday afternoon to have the dealer
look at it. I'm not terribly optimistic about them being familiar with this
problem since they told us when we bought the truck that it was the only V8
5-speed that they could recall selling! I recall someone having this happen
to them also. Does anyone have any advice on what to tell the dealership to
help them zero in on the problem? Has anyone had this problem fixed to
their satisfaction?

And now some general transmission questions. I believe I have seen this
5-speed referred to as a NV3500. Does NV stand for New Venture - the same
people that make 4WD transfer cases? Is this transmission new along with
the 4.7's or was/is it used with the 5.2's and 3.9's?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated. If you don't mind, please CC me
directly at lukewhite@emeraldis.com
