There a lot of truth in the heat build up after shuting down the motor. I have been told and seen it many times by many drivers, That when your done driving that you let the motor run at idle for a few minunts to let let the inermost of the block cool down. This seems to help or at lest never hurt any of the many cars and trucks that I've driven over the years. I just moved to the hot south just over 2 years ago from R.I. I would do it in the winter also.
