Actually your check gauges alarm is working as intended. It should sound if
your temp maxs out or if oil pressure drops to nothing. I don't know what
part of the country you're in but the temp does jump up if you've been
driving and then shut the truck off. It should come back to normal once you
start up and there is circulation and fan blowing. You should chk t-stat,
coolant lvls, fan, etc. to be sure they're ok.

Subject: DML: weirded Temp Gauge
Something weird happened today and i was wondering if
anyone else has seen the same thing......First of all,
does the temp gauge have a temp alarm light or is it
just that "check gauges" warning light? Ok what
happened....I turned on my truck and about 10 seconds
later (i had been running it and just stepped off in a
store)i heard the ring and looked and saw the "check
gauges" light and frantically scanned the gauges and
my temp gauge was maxed out. Now my A/C was running
but i turned it off and it quickly went back down to a
normal temp. I seriously doubt after having been run
at normal temp and being off the temp would rocket up
to in the red!!!!!Do you think my gauges may be
malfunctioning? Would like help with scary situation
that could has lead me to mistrust my gauges.....
Alberto
