I haven't tried this myself either, and I don't have much experience
with power windows, but I did play with the door lock wiring quite a bit
when installing my alarm system. (Needed some relays and creative cutting
and splicing to get the door locks to play nice with the alarm.) On the
surface (I haven't given it much thought) I like the idea of using the
power from the door locks, as they're right in the same vicinity. If you
attempt this, I would recommend having a FSM handy, just to be sure which
wire is which. If I were doing this, I would probably do the wiring in the
passenger side door, as that is where everything comes
together. (Depending on how the windows are wired, you might be able to
get away with doing the wiring right there, and never need to remove the
driver's side door panel.)
