That's from the offset frontal crash test that the Insurance
Institute does. If you read how they do the test, it's pretty
arbitrary. The front impact and side impact, which the NHSTA does,
the Dakota came out very well.
A key to how accurate these are- as I said, the Dakota was good to
excellent on the front and side impact tests, and rated very poor on
the offset frontal. Hmmm. The Toyota Tacoma was poor on the front
and side (really, really bad on the side impact), but the best truck
on the offset frontal. Hmmm. So it's really sturdy on that corner,
and the rest of the truck is made of cardboard? And the Dakota is
sturdy, except for that corner?
Well, it's possible.....
