In 4X4 and Offroad they sometimes mention some c-clip axles as being
notorious for having 'weak c-clips'. Luckily I've never seen that mentioned
specifically in relation to the Mopar Corporate 9 1/4". In fact in their write
up of the 2000 QC Dak where it won 4X4 Pickup Truck of the year they said that
rear is stronger than the ones on most other peoples half tons. I guess they
like it.
I have several of the square type plugs, but I'll have to look for a 1/4NPT
plug with a female hex head. I'm sure I'll still experience an elevated
amount of acute sphincter pucker to take a big drill bit to a practically
brand new rear diff housing.....but thats my problem...

Hi Tim,
Haven't seen any upgrade kits, and typical of ALL C-lock styles, they
usually do break at the worst possible time ... I haven't seen too many
failures of these however. The clips in these are pretty good size.
The area I suggested for the drain is in a pretty thick part of the
casting, so if you put in a short plug, you should have none protruding on
the inside, and very little on the outside. You could even make this a
magnetic plug and do a little "garbage collecting" ...
