Thats what I ended up doing. I did it after driving it for a half-hour. I
think I'll change it again in a couple weeks and make sure I get most of the
grunge out. It only just turned over 7000 miles, but when I did the rear diff
at 1200 miles there was quite a bit of grey dust in the diff from all the
phosphate finish they put on the gears. Get that crap outa there early and
your gears should last a good long time. Thanks for the help!

I was all set to take the cover off of my '98 front diff. (even loosened the
bolts) and decided to bag it at the last second due to the super tight
confines... So instead I rigged up a hand-powered vacuum pump and did it that
way. Much, much easier!

Has anyone changed the fluid in the front diff on their 2000 4x4?? I crawled
under mine the other day and it's prety close quarters between the front diff
cover and the back of the rack and pinion housing. I just want to make sure
before I unbolt the beast that I'll be able to slip it past the ring gear and
all. Right now it don't look good. Like less than 3/4" from the diff cover to
the rack housing.... Any thoughts anyone?? Thanks!
