Yes , it has a neck leading into the fender area. I have noticed that the
2000 do not have a rubber skirt around the front radiator either but the
only hole for incoming air is the left side between the AC compressor and
the radiator.

My 2001, 4.7 has a neck ahead of air filter that gets air from the wheel
well ahead of the splash pan, Did the 2000 have this? I should be able to
incorporate this into the air dam around the K-N I'm going to install.
