I made a trip out to Chesterfield Dodge on Sat. This is where I got my '00
dak.
They had no less then 35 2001 Daks on the lot!! I was shocked to say the
least.
Everything Andy mentioned below, I also noticed. A few other things I
noticed were, of course the all new wheels, 16X8's, they look awesome, you
can really notice the extra inch!! They come with 255\65\16 LS's :( ,
manual trannys get a ugly rubber corrugated shifter boot, no more nice
leather ones :(
BUT THE MOST AWESOME THING I SAW WAS A NEW COLOR!!!!!!! SILVER!!
They even had a 2001 Silver RT CC, plus some Sports that were silver!
THEY LOOKED BAD ASS!!! This is ultimate color, I am jealous of this new
color.
It looks really good with silver color aluminum rims!
I agree with Andy, you have to see the interior in person. I actually liked
it, it wasn't that bad.
I don't like the fender emblems removed, you can't tell what your looking at
anymore without looking at the sticker!

They had about 15 2000's left over on the lot, including 4 Rt's
They had 2 2001 RT's

There are a LOT more changes to the interior than what we've seen in the
pictures so far, and I was only looking through the window. Sam Dell
Dodge in Syracuse, NY has at least 3 QCs on their lot now (actually the
back lot, I think they just rolled off the truck). First off, the
trucks look damn weird w/o the V8 badging on the front fender. I was
not able to get inside the trucks, but my opinion of the new interior
has changed since I first saw the photos. Folks, before you jump to ANY
conclusions, get inside of a '01! The pictures we've had posted here
were good, but you reall have to see this thing for yourself.

The instrument cluser has been redone to have a more "3D" look. The
tach and speedometer are recessed quite a bit, as are the voltage and
temperature gauges. The fuel and oil pressure are flush. Below the
gauges, there's an "information center" which I presume contains the
indicator lights such as Check Engine, etc.

The 4 defroster vents have been replaced by a "panel" of sorts. The
door locks are no longer on the top of the door panel. The center floor
console, where the 4WD lever currently is, appears to waste a lot of
space. Again, I didn't see it up close or anything. The stereo and
HVAC controls are pushed out from where they are now by quite a bit, and
that area is more curved than the current design. The top of the dash
appears to be shallower front to back than the pre-'01s but I think that
may be an illusion caused by the squared-off design and that tray on top
in front of the passenger.

Might they have redesigned that passenger-side airbag/glovebox area to
provide more knee blocking in the event of a crash, to stop the
passenger from submarining under the airbag?
