I took the truck in today. The guage shows 20 pounds pressure at idle (spec
is 6 minimum) and 60 at load (spec is 30 to 80). So the pump is working.
The guess is that the sendsing unit may be intermittently failing or the
bulb is shorting.

What does a sending unit do ?
