Try better octane gas...or may an additive like octane booster or fuel injection cleaner.

alright, here's my problem.. I think.
A couple of days ago I started up my dakota (1996 3.9L) and when it first
started, it made a rattling like sound. My dad heard it and said it sounded
like the valves were tapping. This was the first time it's ever done this
and even though my dad said it shouldn't hurt anything, I'd figure I'd see
what you guys had to say. It's done a couple more times since then too,
only on cold starts. The oil level seems fine, if not a little high, but
it's where it normally is.
