Aaron- I'm sorry to hear that you went throught the same thing I did.
I bought the same horns at PepBoys and was equally disgusted. I have
since reconnected my stock horns (and you can to if you saved the factory
harnesses).
If you want LOUD and DEEP, check out Federal's webpage at:
http://www.fedsig.com They make an electric horn that will blow your
socks off. When I first started driving rescue for Cranston, we had a rescue
with two of these monsters mounted on the roof. You could actually feel
the whole cab vibrate when the button was pressed.
Federal doesn't have this model listed on their web page, but here's the
specs: Federal Signal Corporation Model 58 Series B-1 Traffic Blaster
Air Horn with bugle assembly. This is a 12 volt 8 Amp unit. Item is all
chrome plated. I don't know the dimensions, but I would guess at
16"L x 4"w x 6"h. It connects with two wires and I'm sure it could be
wired to the stock horn button. The only bad part about these horns are
their cost ... about $200 ;-(
