Subject: DML: Dodge Decisions
I have a major life dilemma on my hands here. I recently parted company with
my parents and their house... permenantly. Right now i'm living in a dump
with a couple other guys and i can make all the bills, have a little cash,
and pay for my truck. (even after my hours got cut back at work) So right
now i'm OK.
My dilemma is what to do about my truck... although i can afford it, i can
afford nothing else. I'd like to sell it, but i just don't think i'd get
close to my down-payment back. I've had my truck for 7 months and i've
modified it to the tune of about 1500 bucks. All of that would be a loss if
i dumped it. Now, i put a lot down, so i own about a third of my truck. If
i got even half or a third of my money out of it i could afford to buy a
decent car.
It gets more complicated... My dad co-signed for my truck and he has said
several times (in anger) he would LOVE to just take over the payments and
make me drive a beater. I'm thinking about taking him up on it even though
he already has a truck and he's probably just bluffing. (plus i could still
visit my baby and maybe buy it back when i get back on my feet.)
Enter the next part of this situation... i just found a guy willing to sell
me a '73 dodge challenger with posi, a heavily built '73 318 and slapstick
auto, a decent body and access to his 4 other '73 parts cars for 2500-3000
depending on if he throws in ceramic headers and a couple other goodies.
The engine hasn't even been put back in after the rebuild at 100k miles.
Please, fellas (and ladies), divulge some of your wisdom to this confused
19-year-old. I'm thinking that challenger is a steal and i'm fairly sure my
dad could spot me half of my down-payment for full ownership of my truck.
