The FSM doesn't make reference to 4X2 vs 4X4 but the pictures show the
springs above the axle. I do know on my 4X2 it's under. I assume the 4X4
are above and that's part of the reason the truck sits higher.

On my 2000 with 2wd the springs are mounted under the axle, as they are on
yours.
