It is normal; nothing wrong. You're just hearing the additional air flow
your stock filter was blocking.

Just dropped on the filter charger kit for my 94. It
makes a hissing sound. I was wondering if this was
normal for the unit. It is like 14" exposed
element.(round) I can hear the air sucking in with a
big hissing noise. Sounds cool to me, but the
directions say to get rid of any noises. I checked all
