No, we did not measure at the front, but the trucks were side by side
and there is a noticable difference. Next time I cruise home we'll go
back to the tape. Don't know if you noticed, but the Dakota 4WD's rear
springs ride on top of the axle; Durangos have the springs under on both
4WD and 2WD. I'll even crawl under and measure "real" clearances.

Only reason we were measuring is because he had to get a big drop for
the draw bar for pulling his 27' travel trailer. His hitch sits 14"
above ground level (measured to the bottom of the receiver), mine 17".

As for keeping things clean, my father has a rubber mat with tub sides
(about 3-4 inches tall) in the back of his Durango to keep things clean.
