Subject: Re: DML: Synthetic Oil Pressure

I don't know why some get so concerned with pressure as long as it is not
extremely low (less than 10 lbs) because volume of flow is what is needed to
carry heat away from friction surfaces and you don't have a gauge to measure
that. Any engine that had 30 or more lbs of pressure hot at idle has plenty
of
pressure. On the other side of this I once saw an engine destroy some of
the
crankshaft bearings and was showing 60 lbs of pressure. It had a clogged oil
passage and that made the pressure higher at the gauge but there was no flow
to
1 of the main bearings. (a 300ci straight 6 Ferd.)
