It seems that you could monitor the O2 sensor since a cylinder that's
missing will dump unburned gasoline into the exhaust manifold. You should
see a spike every time this happens if the response of the O2 sensor is fast
enough.

Subject: DML: What sensor can I monitor while driving to watch for a miss?

I believe I saw on Shadetree one day, they had a car with a defective
platinum plug, and they read the output of a sensor when they were done
replacing it to read idle quality. It may have been the crank sensor,I`m
not sure.My question is this:What sensor is the best one to watch for
voltage fluctuations if you suspect the engine is misfiring or missing?
My buddy has one of those Fluke handheld oscilloscopes that I could use
for that.If the truck starts crappin` out on me as bad as it did today,I
should be able to see that on a scope(assuming it responds quickly
enough). If the truck starts running bad and I don`t see a problem on the
scope, then it would be a transmission problem, right? Need help here!
Thanks,Steve P.
