My 5.9 did the same thing but a catback definitely is different than the
stock sound. It went from growl to roar, and there was a difference in the
butt dyno as well. The 2.5" pipe goes to a 3" in my catback. I would
assume the same for 4.7's.

Subject: DML: 4.7L Exhaust Sound
I have been wondering about the stock exhaust on the 2001 DAK, mine has a
growl to it anyway. I was wondering if DC went to a hi-flow system in the
4.7. It's 2.5" tail pipe but you can definitely hear it. Want to go Gibson
3"
single side swept anyway.
any comments on the stock system.
