Leaving First!

Hi, all.

I ran in the Fall Mopar Challenge at Cayuga, Ont. yesterday
for the first time since last month's Mopar Nats.

Test & tune began with a 29.5 barometric pressure, 81F, 75%
humidity and, at the end of the day, 84F and 68% humidity.

Mopar classes and regular bracket classes racing were run
separately. Jim Knox ('91 4x4 318) and I entered the
ET2 Mopar class, which we were told was for 13.99 and slower.
As it turned out, most of the cars were mid-13s.

Test & tunes were:
  15.711 @ 88.24 (running boards 55 lbs on ... misfiring during
                  1-2 shift)
  15.445 @ 88.59 (rb still on ... no misfiring ... plugs must
                  have been a bit fouled)
  15.182 @ 89.93 (rb off ... that's more like it)
  15.175 @ 90.09 (rb off)

Round 1. Jim ran right on his dial-in but, unfortunately, redlighted.
I went against a RR with a 13.55 dial to my 15.0 dial.
          He broke out with a 13.478 @ 98.94 to my 15.135 @ 90.81.
My rt was a .730 to his .941 with me crossing .004 ahead
            of him.

Round 2. Another RR with a 13.26 dial to my 15.12 dial.
He redlighted but I did not know this and braked hard
           for quite a bit to finish with a 15.183 @ 81.34 to
           his 13.389 @ 101.18.
Not knowing he had redlighted, I braked really hard because
it did not look like he was going to pass me. As it was,
           the 60' and 1/8 times showed that I was on a 14.8x - 14.9x run.
My rt was .537 to his .489 with me crossing .018 ahead
            of him.

Round 3. Final 4 competitors.
          I got a '70 Charger with 14.44 dial to my 15.12 dial.
          I redlighted with a .483 to his .974 rt.
          I went thru with a 15.144 @ 90.57 to his 14.406 @ 96.18
crossing the line .433 ahead of him.
Would have been nice to make the finals.

This is the first time this year that I have left first from the tree
and I really liked it ... much better than giving someone a 9.08 sec. lead!

Bob
