Try spraying some lube on the bushing on the steering shaft going to the
steering box. That little bushing can get dry and doesnt give the way it
should. It is meant to crush in the event of a head on collision instead of
you eating some of the steering wheel. Doesnt seem to me that it should do
it so early, mine is a 92 and started doing it maybe about 6 months ago, but
when I lube it, it shuts up for about 3-4 months...
