I am currently accepting pictures for consideration for inclusion
in the 2001 DML calendar. Here's how it works: You send me your pics,
I scan them in, and put them up on a web page. You and your fellow DMLers
vote on the pictures, and the 12 most popular pictures make it into the
calendar. The above process has the following exceptions:
- Each truck can be featured in the calendar only once. If
your truck is in the top 12, and another of the top 12 is a
group shot of which your truck is a part, this rule may not
apply. If this happens, I will make a judgement call based
on the situation.
- Any of the photos that made it into last year's calendar
are hereby retired. :-) They are not eligible for this
year. (Note: Just those particular photos aren't eligible;
even if your truck made it in last year, you are welcome to
submit (different) photos of it this year as well.)
- I have the final say on everything. :-)
As far as the pictures go, please send your photos to me via
snail mail:

Due to the size and resolution that I need to scan in the pics,
the file sizes are about 50-60MB each. It is for this reason that
I scan in the pics myself (and also to keep the settings consistent).
A lot of people use digital cameras these days, which are convenient,
but don't offer the print resolution required. I am not going to
completely rule out digital photos, but they will be discriminated
against somewhat due to the lower quality. If you have a digital
photo which is extrordinary, and the resolution is high enough and
the size is big enough to make up for the printout quality, I might
consider it for inclusion. However, plain ol' photographs are GREATLY
preferred.
I have a stack of photos from the BBQ this year that I think
have a pretty good chance. (Andy, if you've got a photo of
Mr. Plow's 4 wheel burnout I'd really appreciate it if you could
send that in! I've got one, but its not as good as yours.) I'm
hoping we'll get some nice pics from the fall trail ride also;
hopefully the leaves will have changed color. (We'll have to
develop those pics fast though!) :-)
As far as the timeframe goes, I would like the calendar to be
available in early December. I should probably give the print
shop the better part of a month to print 'em out just to be safe,
so lets make the voting period be from Sunday October 29 through
Saturday November 4. *** That means I will need to receive your pics
no later than Saturday, October 28. ***
If you have any questions or anything, just give a shout, either
here on the DML or to me at jon@dakota-truck.net.
TTYL!
