RE: Aftermarket LSD experience? [ALEX, TOM] - kind of long

Alex,
I've been happy with the Powertrax No-Slip
I have a '97 CC, Auto, 5.2L (205 RWHP) - not quite R/T territory (Tom),
but good for me...:-)
The reason I got the No-Slip is that I do occasional Towing of (My son's
Boy Scout) Trailer - I got stuck once in some light mud and was helped
out by a chevy 4wd (embarrassing). Since installing the No-Slip I've
had two experiences that I know I wouldn't have been able to get out of
without the No-slip.
On the road, the No-slip feels different around turns, like Tom stated.
The "push" is noticeable, but manageable.
I have a 4x2, so I can't tell you how it is off-road (haven't romped
around the pineapple fields yet).
One side-effect is that when I make corners (turning from a stoplight)
under mild acceleration there is a tire chirp almost every time. This
is because of the nature of the locker. BTW, I have 235-70-15 BF
Goodrich T/A Radials. I'm sure a V-6 would chirp around corners too!
Regardless of the type of rear, if you have bald tires, you got no
traction. Make sure you have good treads.
As far as the Clunk - from Drive to Reverse, it is noticeable. I
normally shift into Neutral and wait a couple of seconds before shifting
into Reverse (from Drive) and visa versa - seems to help a little.
For the price and ease of installation (although I had a shop install
it), I would recommend it.
I am waiting to take it down the ¼ mile (some day).
If I remember right I took up Tom's and Kyle K's recommendation - glad I
did.

Hope I helped

Awesome. I may bump this up ahead of the ported TB on the list of mods,
especially with a few months of nasty weather ahead of us. We had a
bunch of
rain recently and I swear I thought someone went out and Armor-All'ed my
tires. Now if it could only help me stop...

I have the 5-speed, so no problems with the clunky trans!

Thanks very much for the info!
