Belly pan gaskets that leak will cause a truck to ping because it's sucking
in an excess of oil and unmetered air into the intake system. making it run
a little lean. (more air than needed) That's why it can be a cause of the
pinging.

I changed my belly pan gasket out and before I did, there was about 1/4 of a
quart of oil at the bottom of it and I'd lose about a quart of oil every
week. After changing it. My oil is actually a LOT cleaner than before when
I change it, and I don't "use" up any more oil.
