I've only bought one thing via E-bay so maybe I'm missing something, but
why not just use the automatic agent they provide? You punch in the
max you're willing to pay, and if someone else outbids you, it'll
increment your bid by the minimum amount automatically, up to the limit
you specify. True, you *might* be able to get something for cheaper
doing it the manual way, but that's why you specify a maximum. I figure
the automatic agent can bid for me a heck of a lot faster than I can! :-)
Plus, I don't have to be there when the auction closes. AND, it eliminates
that last minute "gotta-have-it-at-any-price-itis" which I might
otherwise succumb to. :-)
