I was once told from an auto detailer that once it's there, ya can't remove
it. I have found however that solutions such as armorall and even tire-gloss
products "hide" the whitish paste look and return the plastic to a black
finish. Although the wax is still there, it can usually be covered up.
Obviously these products are meant to treat plastic and rubber, so it goes
to say that most are safe for use on door handles etc....as long as any
residual is removed from the paint.
