That's pretty tough to diagnose on the fly. I do know that ANYTIME that Check engine light FLASHES it is BAD BAD BAD, and MUST go in for service. Luckily you have an appointment and a fault code should be stored, probably multiple ones. At least the wee one couldn't catch ya.
