Re: Cowl Induction Vs Ram Air Which Better/How?

On the older Camaro's with the cowl induction hoods (and several other
vehicles), the air would swirl in a forward motion at the cowl area and some of
it would actually be forced into the cowl opening on the hood. The air
cleaners under neath the hood also had an inlet for the cooler air from the
opening. They worked well but were only considered as a form of "Cold Air
Induction".

On those 7-9 second cars, I've seen a majority of them with Cowl Induction
hoods (3" - 5" rise). On the ProStock and Top Fuel vehicles, they have the air
intake snorkels facing forward for a true "Ram Air" effect. Since they're
looking for .001 second differences, this is the way to go at those high speeds
(250+mph).
