I have a 1997 Dakota (sitting at stock height) with stock 15X7" wheels and I
would like to change them to an after-market set and larger tires. The wheels
I thinking of are Panther 15X8 with 5" back spacing. Tire clearance is not a
problem in the rear, its the front that I'm worried about. My first choice is
265/60R15's (1.9" wider & .18" shorter than stock tires) which makes the
Speedo off by only .39 mph @ 60 mph. Also I have thought about buying
245/65R15's (1.2" wider & .16" shorter than stock tires) which makes the
Speedo off by only .34 mph @ 60 mph. I want to be able to rotate all 4 tires
so they need to be the same size.

Will the 265's fit my DAK and give me plenty of clearance up front or should
I go with the 245's? What problems will I have if I lower the truck 2" front
and rear? Any suggestions on other tire sizes? How about some wheel
suggestions too? Thanks Stan

Just to let you know, I have the 15x8 Factory wheels on my 97 CC with
275/60r15 BFG Radial T/A's.
