I think cool (not cold, cool, as in cooler than engine temp) oil
lubricates better and lasts longer. Remember (maybe you don't) all the
Castrol commercials? They pushed that their product "resisted thermal
breakdown" better than competing oils. Hot oil is thin oil. Thin oil
probably doesn't lubricate as well.

OTOH, get your oil COLD (as in a northern winter, don't start the truck
all weekend and have it sub-zero the whole time) and you're looking at
increased wear because the stuff gets real, real thick and can't flow
well at all.
