I don't think the 3.90's themselves caused the problem. I've had 3.90's for
awhile and I know a lot of people with 3.90's and they don't have a problem.
If you have a differential problem that's causing other problems changing
them to 3.55's won't cure it.

Subject: DML: Anybody have any problems with 3.90 axle ratio with a v8
5-speed Tranny?

I have a 98 club cab with 5.2 v8 5spd 3.90 axle ratio. I am having doubts
about the 3.90 axle ratio. I have had Transmission, Transfer case and axle
problems. I am thinking I should replace 3.90 with the standard 3.55 ratio.

Thank you for your comments!
