Mark,
I ultimately ended up buying my center console from Savanna Jones,
www.savannajones.com.
More specifically, look at http://www.savannajones.com/consoleindex.htm
I searched for a good 2 week period, trying to find the best of the best
deal I could located for this console. I was not too thrilled about paying
$165 for the center console, but I knew I did need one after swapping out my
bench for some Dakota buckets. I also wanted the center console to be
locking. True, many center consoles lock, but arent worth crap if you need
to store valuables in them. So obvisouly having a metal locking console was
on my priority list. I ended up buying a Tuffy Series II
I also read alot about various consoles made by various companies, mainly
through Jeep related websites. Based on what I read, I knew Tuffy was the
company to go with. Trust me also on this, t heir customer service is great
and their product is even better. I ended up ditching the main bolts the
center console came with, cause I needed longer ones. So for $5 I bought a
bunch of Grade 8 hardware and a tube of silicon, for sealing up the holes I
hav to drill through my truck's floorboards. I had to drill 4 holes, two in
front and two in the rear of the console. I bolted it down and it is
extremely solid, cant even budge the thing. As far as the locking mechanism
is concerned, the only wat they are going to inside the console is if they
have a portable blow torch or have about 30 minutes worth of hacksaw
cutting. I highly doubt though that a crook would waste their time once they
see how stout this box is built; very thick steel construction. No needs to
worry here man! I leave my handgun in this console when I go places I dont
want to carry the gun into, and trust it 100% to protect the handgun.
Some info I read:
http://w3.one.net/~marc/bronco/console/
http://www.jedi.com/obiwan/jeep/tuffy.html
Just go to any search engine and type in Tuffy Center Console, and it should
pull up some sites. Let me know if I can help out more.
