RE: A/C switch (by-pass)

Correct me if I'm wrong folks, but for Gen III's, pre-'00's have the A/C
switch integrated into the fan switch. Four speeds without A/C, Off, then
four speeds with A/C. For Y2K's the A/C switch is integrated into the duct
function switch (really lame). For 2001 they just gave it a separate
switch. But it turns out the wiring is all the same, right up to the wiring
harness connector at the dash panel. So just get a control panel from a '98
or '99 or '01 and plu it in. I don't know if the physical layout of the
dash will allow that for the '01's, but I think the 99's are the same. You
really can just cut one of the wires and and put in a separate switch to
ground. You can check the wiring diagram in the factory service manual and
identify the wire.

Subject: DML: A/C switch (by-pass)

I seen this on here before but I can't find it now that I'm looking for it
in
the archives. In order to put a switch to by pass the A/C compreser is more
then just a switch. It had somthing to do with telling (fooling) the main
computer that the compreser was by-passed or somthing like that. This is so
the deforster can run with out the A/C. Anyone remember this now that the
colder weather is here?
