Not as easily. The transmission on the 4.7 is controlled by a new computer
module called a TCM which directly interfaces with the PCM. The TCM sends
information regarding shifting to the PCM who then retards the timing and/or
adjusts the fuel/air mixture. There's more to it than that but that is the
gist of it.
