wait! before you buy a fuel pump listen to this:

i had a 91 jeep cherokee 4.0 and it had the exact same problem.
the problem was the in the fuel return. the fuel return wasnt keeping much
pressure and after a while it let it all out so the fuel lines had zero
pressure.
i had someone fix it for less than 50 bucks. i cant remember what its called
but it was a problem with most cherokees. maybe dakotas too?
just thinking out loud, but it definetly worth a try i think
