We're not doing it to race around in the dark at triple-digit speeds.
Hell, we don't do it to race around in traffic either. Everything has
its time and place, and this incident was well over the line.
My truck has been past 85 once, and that was in broad daylight, on a
flat, clear, empty road in the middle of nowhere that I double-checked
for animals in the area and intersecting roads. The only red lights or
stop signs that I've ever missed I missed because I didn't see them (my
view was truly obstructed). NEVER intentionally.
Just because you did it when you were a kid doesn't make it OK for
someone else to do it. Those who do not learn history are condemned to
repeat it.
