You know... On a related note... ;-)
I don't know how many of you folks were on the list back then, but a
few years ago, someone put a leaf blower on their Dak as a supercharger,
just to test it out. They used a DC->AC power inverter and just plugged
the thing into the cigarette lighter. It did give him some more
power, but not enough to justify having a leaf blower on the truck. :-)
BUT, my father recently bought a Stihl gas powered leaf blower, and
DANG!!! That thing puts out a MESS of air! WAY more than the electric
ones. Also, its got a trigger finger throttle on it which allows you to
adjust the airflow over a large range. Anyone see where I'm going with
this? :-)
Now, don't get me wrong; I'm not saying a leaf blower is a great long
term solution, but it sure would be a fun experiment! I don't know
how the output compares with a supercharger, but I do know that its
a heck of a lot less money, so on a bang/buck comparison, it probably
compares quite favorably.
Two downsides though; having to keep refilling your supercharger's
gas tank with premix and always having to answer the question, "Dude,
why does your truck sound like a chainsaw?" :-)
