Now wait a minute. You said you had a P1281. Which is it, 1281 or 1282? A
P1282 is a fuel pump relay control circuit problem. P1281 is running too
cold for too long of time. I doubt that the 180º t-stat would cause that
code if working properly. It really sounds like the t-stat might be stuck
open. Basically what happens is you're stuck in open loop. Your PCM will
NOT use the O2 sensors for emission controls. Your air/fuel mixture will
run slightly richer because it will just use the air/fuel tables that are
built in to the PCM rather than lean them out due to O2 sensor readings.
This is not entirely a bad thing. You probably won't pass emissions until
you resolve the problem and your mileage will suffer a bit as well, but your
performance will be great.

I think you two are right, my truck has run really cold here lately, I added
the 180 tstat, but its also been cool here (40-60 range). My times at the
drag strip have actually gone down since the Tstat install, so I don't think
its hurting anything.
Also, fuel mileage has been about the same. No significant diff.
I guess I'll just reset the PCM, and see what happens.
Would be nice to know what the P 1282 is, I know the P=Powertrain, and the
1=MFG, and the 2= fuel air metering, but the 82 fault code, I can't find??
Anyone have a FSM for a 2000/2001 PLEASE ??????!!! :)
I'll keep ya posted Steven. Thanks Guys.
