My finally choice was between a Dakota and a Tundra. Dodge gets a
preference in my family. I was suspect of the Toyota axles. So I was
surprised to hear Luke stand behind them. He would know more than I on the
subject. The Dak I was looking at and bought had a 9 1/4 which was ample
for an automatic (especially a lameass multispeed with a pcm that retards
the engine for shifts)...

One of the things that shocked me was that the max towing capacity of an
optioned out Tundra is only 500lbs more than my Dak. And the load capacity
is the same!!! I considered the 9 1/4 superior. The trans superior
(forgetting the damn retard feature I didn't know about). And the power,
given the lower vehicle weight superior.

Add to that better styling and more comfy interior, along with the fact
that I have NEVER bought a foriegn vehicle and I decided on the DAK.

I did like the large stock tire and wheel package on the Tundra. And I
liked the engine. I don't think it is an awful looking truck. I don't
like the interior at all...
