1) Well I broke down and went to the dealer to get my stalling / idle
problem looked at. The larger cam installation along with the
Vortech had the computer all screwed up. Turns out the Distributor is used
to index the fuel injection. Using the service scanner, he
reset the injector advance to about 3 degrees advanced, and reset the
computer to its base values. Then idle about 5 minutes no air,
then 5 minutes with air on (5spd do this in neutral, for an automatic idle
in drive with the parking brake on). This cleared up 98% of my bad
idle issue. I'm hoping the adaptive memory will clear out the balance.

2) I know all about the big debate about the Autolite 3923s. Here's a
little more fuel for the fire.

If you remove the spark plug heat shields (vice grips and a tug),
you can use Champion RN12Ys or their equivalent (these generally
a lot easier to find in assorted heat ranges / gaps). I got this from a
tech at the dealer, who got it from a TSB.

If you compare them side by side, the portion that threads into the
head is the same, as is the reach. You'll need to larger plug
socket though. No more worries about gorillas either.

NOTE: you may not want to do this swap if you're using stock
manifolds. Also the exposed ceramic body is thicker, so boot lube
is advised.

3) While BSing with the tech, he said that to fully clear out the
adaptive memory yourself without a scanner (like if you make a
large change to the engine i.e. cam, blower, large TB, etc) disconnect the 3
harness plugs from the computer overnight!! He also said that you
do NOT have to disconnect the battery (this one left me scratching my head).
