Chris, I've had mine out, but because I was working on other stuff. There are
two torx bolts under the knee bolster panel (T-25s, I think). Then you pull
STRAIGHT out and the top of the panel will come unclipped and pop out at you.
You have to pull kinda hard and it sounds pretty violent, but won't break
anything. Then you remove the two phillips screws above the tach and speedo
and remove the whole trim plate that extends to the radio and vents. Just
start at the left with the screws and pop the panel off, one clip at a time.
The radio is held in with 2 8mm or 3/8" trim bolts, I think.

BTW, what kind of radio are you removing? I'd be interested in buying it.

Has anyone removed the factory head unit on an 01 yet? I'd like to put my
pioneer CD player in my new truck and I'm not sure how to remove the factory
one.

Thanks,

Chris
