Subject: DML: Really Bad V6 MPG- HELP!!
Crap...After changing the timing belt, giving it a tune-up, new tires,
and new exhaust, my V6 is still only getting 10-11 MPG. Does ANYONE
have any ideas of what I can check?
Two weeks and 180 miles ago, I cleaned my Autolite 3932's (gapped at
.45), checked the compression (wet and dry-all consistently between 145
and 155 lbs), removed the TB, and thoroughly cleaned the intake and TB.
I also changed the timing chain (I did put it on correctly :), changed
the oil, coolant, and filters. Yesterday I intalled a new Dynomax
exhaust system. The only other mod I have is an electric cooling fan
that I had replaced the stock with...
When I first had these problems in April, it was sudden (MPG went from
21 to 10 from one fillup to the next). Since then it consistently gets
10-11.5 mpg (city or highway). My truck was already running badly then,
so I can't say if I had any performance problems when it happened. Now
my truck runs like it did when I got it, but still gets half the mileage
it should. I can't figure this out.
PLEASE, if anyone has any ideas, send them my way. Running for
president would be less frustrating that this...
