Perhaps you disagree with me, but I feel these units are far inferior to the
better brands of Vortech, ATI, etc. So far this year I've had my bearings
fail 2 times, and I'm sick of sending it in for service, regardless of
whether it's in warranty or not. So I came up with a solution: Upgrade the
bearings. Now I was hoping Bernd can get in on this, since knowing him he
knows every tech they got over there at Powerdyne. I'll do the hunting for
the bearings, I just need to know what size these things are. I need inner
diameter, outer diameter, and widths. I want to upgrade all of the bearings
in there. I'm going to take out my SC today and try to get the pulley off,
but it's on there so tight I may have to destroy the pulley to get it off, I
can't even get it off with a puller. I'm hoping someone else either has it
out already, or perhaps knows someone at Powerdyne to get us specs on the
bearing. If you can find out what company manufacturers them as well, I'll be
sure to avoid them :-).
My bearings are so loud that I can't take it anymore, but I'd much rather
spend $30 on bearings than a few hundred on a used head unit that I'll
probably have to fabricate brackets for.
