Not saying you have the same problem at me, but I had similar symptoms
and
it ended up being the timing chain... thank God!! Back to the regular
old
occasional ping =)

Does it ping at idle, or on acceleration only?

I only hear the ping on acceleration. And it's not coming from the
engine compartment, it sounds like it's under the cab. And it's not a
rattle that would indicate a Cat or Muffler problem, more of a ping. How

did you end up discovering it was your timing chain Wes? I'm real
skeptical about taking it to any of the dealer service centers near me,
so I thought if it was a matter of replacing the belly pan gasket I I'd
start there.
