Steven, I'd recommend a Hoosier product. I run the Hoosier Quick time Pro,
its a DOT slick. It has two very small grooves cut in it for "tread", in
order to make them street legal, however they are SCARY on the road, hee
heee, forget about cornering with these things, I never drive them on the
street. I carry them in the truck bed until I get to the track and swap them
out.
If you're looking for a pure street/strip tire, Hoosier also makes a "Quick
Time" tire with full tread. These are pretty soft and offer full tread
pattern.
Then you have the BFG drag radial, which should be decent.
I'd stay away from the Goodyears, They're probably high dollar, and I've
never really seen a street car with them??? Most "street" folks run either
the Hoosier, or the BFG.
I'll be updating my spreadsheet soon, I'm up to about 115-120 ish runs, and
then KAAABOOOOOOOM !!!! hee hee

>From what I could tell, the Hughes TB was worth around a .10 or so, maybe a
little more.

the back and then lost traction for the first 100 feet or so.

Do you have it in your latest spreadsheet I want to check your analysis from
your latest changes?

Which tire do you recommend for both drag racing and street Matt? What do
you think of the Goodyear's slicks for drag racing?

STEVEN!!! DON'T SELL IT YET!!!!!!
2.5 short times, Bawwhaaa haaa, Thats a Don Garlits burnout!! hee heee, No
wonder you did'nt run any quicker, you should be able to get 2.0-2.1's easy,
with better tires, OR more than likely a better track condition. If you can
shave .4 tenths off your 60' time with traction ;), you'll knock atleast .5
sec's off that 1/4 time!! Don't be too disappointed Steven, those kinda
short times are absolutley horrible, I can get 2.2's on street tires,
dumping
the clutch at 2000 rpms.
BTW, with slicks this weekend, launching at 3200 rpms, I pulled a 1.88 60'
time.

Steven, What were your 60' times?? I would guess 2.0 would be about the
best
you'll see on radials. Anything above 2.1 is lousy traction. Just curious
to
see how bad your 60' times were with those Goodyears??

Thanks to Bruce, for his usage of his helmet and the tip in lowering the RPM
(2500 stall to 1500) when leaving the line. I missed the days of driving a
4-speed Hurst shifter Chevelle anymore. Ripping the Badyears was a
miserable 60-100 feet of waste of time. However, what I had found Bruce,
the 1/4 time was almost the same. This was a complete disappointment on the
sludge-box MB automatic. Between second and third gear, it needs to be more
closer and fourth is a joke at 80-85. It is like catching a second breath
running it in the 1/4 mile. Comparing with the five-speed 4.7 it is almost a
second faster. These engine should run in the mid to high 14s with minimal
mods. With the multi-speed, it is a total joke. Yes! I had the OD off and
tried once in D and the other second gear. The gear proves my theory by
only .030 second faster. Yes! Maybe a .5 second on traction problems and
the high gearing 3.55 versus the 3.92. However, that second wind.

I sat home that night on what to do. Seeing the disappointing high 15 with
a 3.55 rear gears, and Badyears, if it is time to trade out or for the last
three mods. The three mods are the billet TB, exhaust system and suspension
(to include wheel package). Now if the goal of the truck is not met, I will
wait until January 2001 Detroit Auto Show on the scoop of the Dodge Dakota
HO Hemi or purchase the same 2001 version of Ted O. new truck. With Ted
truck, I have the opportunity for a 12-13 second street machine. At this
rate, I will only see a low 14 with a SC. (Read between the lines-not to
upset anyone)

Patterns? I looked at Aaron's ET based on his truck and mine, our times
were almost the same and I was totally upset with this slush automatic. I
know! I had the first reaction of 2.4...and yes! I was reading a book.
Trying the brake and gas in a auto is not that easy. Anyway, I needed two
more runs to make it into .6 times. From all the crowd, I had time for only
two runs. Should of ran brackets....like Steve O did.

I had to vent with the disappointment and my wife was relieve, knowing early
next year will come the expensive SC unit. Thinking I will either trade it
or stop where I am at...but you never know. I will have to compare any data
from other CC, 4.7, auto owners on 1/4 statistics, to include any
modification added.
